Have a plan
 - if staying or evacuating - and what you need -
after you have secured your home and brought all outside loose items inside.

Special items needed for care of elderly, disabled or infant family members
Pet medications, canned or dry food, leash, vaccination information
Copies of important documents, with originals in a safe place
Minimum of one gallon drinking water per person, per day
Names and phone numbers of important contacts/family
Pictures (or film or disks) of valuables in a safe place
Charged cell phones and other electronic devices
Battery operated radio, TV, and extra batteries
Lanterns, flashlights, candles and matches
Auto tank and extra gas cans filled with fuel
Bleach (without lemon or preservatives)
Canned or packaged food and drink
Computer backup and accessories
Filled propane tanks on BBQ grills
Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
Refilled prescription medications
Plug-in (not electronic) telephone
Supplies and water for sanitation
Protective clothing or rainwear
Bathtubs(s) filled with water
Generator in working order
Whistle to signal for help
Manual can opener
Plastic trash bags
Filled water jugs
Moist towelettes
Insect repellant
Eating utensils
Hand sanitizer
Paper goods
Sturdy shoes
Local maps
First aid kit
Cash
